History

The company was founded as Stafford and Zoia in 1890 by J.J. Stafford, the local undertaker, and Antonio J. Zoia, who immigrated from Milan, Italy to America in 1881. By 1900, Antonio became the sole owner and had built a reputation for fine stoneworking.

Antonio married his wife Amelia and they had four children, Charles D., Clyde J., Eugene P., and Mary I. His sons would carry on and continue building a good name in the monument business.

Following in their footsteps, James A. Zoia learned the trade from his father and uncles. James continued the family tradition for many years, updating and advancing the business with the introduction of new technologies and machinery.

Today the business is currently run by Anthony J. Zoia, representing the fourth generation.

Zoia Monument Company is proud of its family history and continues to provide caring and quality service for 131 years.
